Ambedkar International Center Unveils Historic Statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in Washington, D.C.
Washington, D.C. – 14th October 2023 – The Ambedkar International Center is proud to announce the unveiling of a monumental statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, a visionary social reformer and the principal architect of the Indian Constitution, in the heart of Washington, D.C. This historic occasion marks the first-ever installation of a statue honoring Dr. Ambedkar in the United States, celebrating his legacy of equality, justice, and human rights.
In a remarkable and groundbreaking moment, this monumental statue of Bodhisattva Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, towering over the heart of Washington, D.C., is set to inspire generations and serve as a symbol of hope for building an equal, discrimination-free, and inclusive society. It carries a profound message of unity, equality, and the fight against oppression, making it an emblem of hope and inspiration for all.
Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, often referred to as Babasaheb and Bodhisattva, was a champion of social justice, equality, and the rights of marginalized communities. His remarkable contributions to the world have left an indelible mark, inspiring generations to fight against discrimination and to strive for a more just society.
The unveiling ceremony took place at AIC premises. Distinguished guests, community leaders, scholars, and activists, gathered paid rich tributes to Dr. Ambedkar’s enduring legacy despite heavy rains.
